No obligations, we’ll help you estimate fuel, emissions, and cost-saving potential with our solar solutions.

The project ‘PV Systems for Seagoing Vessels’ focuses on the development and demonstration of an innovative Solar Deck solution. This project is co-funded by the European Union through the Just Transition Fund (JTF).

We are the worlds first company that compensates the hotel load on ships with solar panels
We are sustainable at heart, we believe in making the world a cleaner place, with one solar panel at a time.
We are born engineers and our expertise lies in robust solutions suitable for every ship
Wattlab was founded by three TU Delft students driven by a shared passion for sustainable innovation. Their journey began with setting a world record for a solar-powered car, proving that clean energy and high performance can go hand in hand. Building on that success, the team turned their expertise toward a new challenge, inland shipping. By developing a smart solar energy system for vessels, they once again made history: the first inland water vessel to operate its full hotel load entirely on solar energy. At the same time, Wattlab began developing a solar system for short sea vessels at the request of a renowned Dutch shipping company. After three successful pilot phases, the resulting system, the Solar Flatrack, is now ready for large-scale production and sales. In real maritime conditions, the Solar Flatrack has proven its durability and effectiveness: it fully compensates the hotel load, reduces fuel consumption, and lowers CO2 emissions, all with a remarkably fast return on investment. By helping vessels and shipping companies significantly improve their environmental performance, Wattlab contributes to a cleaner, more efficient maritime industry, steering towards the shared goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
